The Chord Club presents Wyclef Jean, Arthel Neville, and other musicians and artists who join together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of VH1 Save The Music and the upcoming 300th birthday of New Orleans during this year’s Jazz Festival.
VH1 Save The Music will be donating $35,000 worth of musical equipment and instruments to an Orleans Parish school for a program of need.
On Saturday April 29th, 2017, The Chord Club by Billboard, a New York City Recording studio, presents a late night jazz jam fest featuring Wyclef Jean and many other special guests. Arthel Neville of Fox News Channel, and native New Orleans daughter to Art Neville of the Neville Brothers, will host the evening. The Chord Club asks that you join in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and New Orleans’ upcoming 300th birthday. VH1 Save The Music has partnered with Gibson Guitars on a special collaboration that will pair twenty visual artists with 20 musicians to design a customized, one of a kind Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar. Each musician will sign and play a guitar before it is auctioned to benefit the Foundation with the hope of putting 20 music programs into schools in need. Wyclef Jean, the first guitar collaboration, will be paired with celebrity painter and artist, Tiffanie Anderson. The guitar will be unveiled at the House of Blues at the concert. Weekly, The Chord Club will be announcing additional celebrities and guests who will be in attendance and performing at the House of Blues.
Additionally, the city of New Orleans is getting ready to celebrate its 300th birthday and in anticipation of most, if not all, of the local schools returning to the New Orleans Parish School Board, VH1 Save The Music is renewing their partnership with the city by donating $35,000 worth of new musical instruments and equipment to a local school Between 1998 and 2013, VHI STM has jumpstarted twenty-four comprehensive music education programs in various schools around New Orleans. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, VH1 Save The Music assumed responsibility for all instruments in storage and worked to salvage and restore programs for students in the city.
Worldwide superstar, Wyclef Jean, who has sold over 100 million albums and 20 million singles worldwide, will return to New Orleans to support VH1 Save The Music after last headlining the Jazz and Heritage Festival Congo Stage in 2011. He is the recipient of three Grammy Awards® and formed the legendary Hip Hop ground The Fugees. Jean amassed an impressive catalogue of hits such as “Gone Till November,” “911,” and “Sweetest Girl,” and produced award winning hits for Shakira, Carlos Santana, and Whitney Houston. In 2014, Wyclef collaborated with Carlos Santana, Avicii, and Alexandre Pires to release the FIFA World Cup official anthem “Dar Um Jeito.” He later partnered with Avicii again on “Divine Sorrow” for Coca- Cola’s Red Campaign. For his latest album, Wyclef has recently released two singles titled “My Girl” and “Hendrix”, and created his upcoming single “You’re a Rich Girl” with Daryl Hall and Pusha T. Currently, Wyclef is signed to the New York City based Indie label Heads Music, and he is working on his seventh studio album Carnival, which will be dropping in the Spring of 2017.
